Terms of Service

Plain-English terms for using Audiopian. By using the site, you agree to them.
1. Acceptance
By accessing or using Audiopian (“the Service”), you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service.
2. What Audiopian is
Audiopian is a free, browser-based singing game. It shows time-synced lyrics (retrieved from the third-party database lrclib.net), plays a backing track using YouTube’s embedded player, listens to you sing through your microphone, and scores how closely you match. Audiopian does not host, upload, store, or stream any music recordings, and it is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by YouTube, Google, OpenAI, lrclib, or any artist or rights holder.
3. Who can use it
You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use Audiopian only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.
4. Acceptable use
Use the Service lawfully and for personal, non-commercial enjoyment. Don’t break, overload, or probe the Service or its providers; don’t misuse the third-party services it relies on; and don’t use it to infringe anyone’s rights. You are responsible for your own conduct and for anything you record, capture, or share from your sessions.
5. Third-party services
Audiopian depends on services it doesn’t control:
- YouTube plays the backing track. By using the player you also agree to YouTube’s Terms of Service, and Google’s Privacy Policy applies.
- lrclib.net supplies the lyrics.
- Google’s Web Speech API (the default) and, optionally, OpenAI (if you provide a key) perform speech recognition.
Your use of these is governed by their terms, not ours. We don’t endorse them and aren’t responsible for them. They may change or become unavailable at any time, which may affect the Service.
6. Bring-your-own OpenAI key (optional)
You may supply your own OpenAI API key for sharper recognition. Your key is stored only in your browser and sent only to OpenAI — never to Audiopian. You are solely responsible for your key, your OpenAI account, and any usage or charges it incurs.
7. Intellectual property
Lyrics, compositions, and recordings belong to their respective owners. Audiopian claims no ownership of them and grants you no rights in them; your use of that material is between you and the rights holders. The Audiopian name, design, and original code are owned by their author or used under license, and all rights are reserved.
8. Copyright
We respond to valid copyright notices. See our DMCA / Copyright Takedown page.
9. No warranty
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including the accuracy of lyrics or scores, the availability of any song, or fitness for a particular purpose. Lyrics may be wrong or missing, songs may not be playable, and scores are for fun only.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Audiopian and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service. Because the Service is free, the operator’s total liability to you will not exceed US $100.
11. Indemnity
You agree to hold the operator harmless from claims arising out of your misuse of the Service or your violation of these Terms or the rights of others.
12. Changes
We may modify or discontinue the Service, or update these Terms, at any time. If we change the Terms, we’ll update the date above; continued use means you accept the changes.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
